Meeting with Minister Rajan Sawhney- Minister of Multiculturalism and Immigration

The Executive Director of Calgary Immigrants for Immigrants Association (CIIA), Wazhma Sadaat, recently had a productive meeting with the Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism, Muhammad Yaseen, to discuss the various barriers Afghan families are facing in Alberta. During the meeting, Wazhma highlighted key challenges such as language barriers, limited access to essential services, difficulties in finding meaningful employment, and the lack of culturally sensitive support for Afghan immigrants.

Minister Yaseen listened attentively to these concerns and expressed his commitment to working closely with CIIA to address these issues. Together, they discussed potential solutions, including expanding language training programs, improving access to healthcare and employment resources, and fostering community engagement initiatives. The meeting was a significant step toward strengthening the partnership between CIIA and the government, ensuring that Afghan families in Alberta receive the support they need to successfully integrate into Canadian society and thrive in their new home.
